In 2000, new owners found this property severely over-grazed and choked with cedar. Makeshift cabins, rickety buildings and manmade clutter littered the hilltop. It took a lot of vision to see the underlying beauty waiting to be uncovered, but these new owners were determined. Determined to do their best in leaving their mark on the land. Not in the form of some ghastly scars or abuse of the resources, but in the jaw-dropping transformation back into a state of health and diversity, the kind of stunning vigor and beauty described by this area's earliest settlers.

Mountains of trash and rubble were hauled away and acres and acres of cedar were cleared. Assisting the limited remaining desirable grasses with purchased native grass seed mixtures, mother nature responded with an incredible display of healing. An unbelievable number of rare madrone trees are now visible and immersed in a sea of grass.
